CALL FOR ARTISTS – PROSPECTUS
RE: OIL GREASE: ART OF NIGERIA & WEST AFRICA
Gallery AWA is hosting an art exhibition featuring 30 to 40 artworks on the Art of Nigeria & West Africa. Each artist will be required to submit a minimum of 3 pieces.

Eligibility: The theme for this exhibition is 'Through the looking glass of oil and its connected corruption with the Gidi of Lagos, Nigeria and West Africa .'

We welcome all forms of art including 2D and 3D media. All work must be suitably framed, wired and ready for hanging; no saw-tooth hangers. Gallery wrap canvases are allowed if the sides are painted and there are no staples showing. Works on paper must be framed under Plexiglas or glass. There are no size restrictions for the paintings. However, though we can accommodate large pieces, over-sized (38” x 48”) paintings submitted may not be selected as we have only a few walls for oversized art.
Gallery AWA reserves the right to reject art at their discretion and if it does not meet the guidelines of this prospectus. The Artist must deliver their work to the venue of the exhibition.
Acceptance: Artists will be notified of accepted works via email. Work will be refused if it does not conform to the entered image. Absolutely NO substitutions of accepted works will be allowed. All accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.
Sales: Artworks will be for sale, and the selling price requested by the artist must be clearly stated. Gallery AWA will retain a 30% commission on sales. Artwork that is not for sale must be clearly identified and will be labeled “NFS” for the exhibit.
Entry Fee: There is no fee to enter.
Entry Requirements: Artists must enter via email to curator@galleryawa.com as follows:

Artist identification and contact information in the body of the email:

Attach a one page Artist bio/statement
Attach a head shot.
Attach a maximum of three (3) artworks in JPG format
Label entries as follows:
List coordinates for each artwork in the body of the email
(Entry# - Title – Size – Medium - Date created – Price or NFS)
For example:
1- Beautiful, 36x24, oil on canvas, 2015 , $3,500
2- Marvelous art, 8x10, acrylic on masonite, 2016 , NFS
3- Superb art, 20x16, Pastel on arches paper, 2016 , $8,000
Dimensions given must be unframed size. Height must be given before width regardless of whether the work is a vertical or a horizontal. Failure to follow instructions may result in the nullification of your entry.

Delivery of Work: 2 days before opening reception -- from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Artwork must be Hand-delivered or Shipped to the Gallery.
If hand delivered, packaging must be removed from the gallery at the time of delivery.
Return of Work: Work must be picked up at the gallery day after closing reception from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Bring your own packaging.
Liability: The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved after pick-up date and will charge the artist $5.00 a day thereafter for storage. After 30 days the gallery may dispose of the work. Gallery AWA will not be responsible for any loss or damage to work while in transit to or from the gallery. The submission of a work of art to this exhibition shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.

The mission of Gallery AWA is to exhibit art, ideas and other forms of creative expression on socially-relevant topics from under-represented parts of the world. “Bringing More of the World to New York” is our goal. We intently focus on exhibiting creative expressions that are socially-relevant, and provide opportunities for artists to display their work on those themes at our location in New York. Besides exhibiting art, Gallery AWA will also be a meeting place for lectures, talks, world cinema showings, and discussions on socially relevant themes.
